johanna grew up in a big family, three girls and two boys. the order of the siblings was as follows from youngest to oldest: willow (f), roscoe (m), johanna (f), linden (m), laurel (f). johanna fell smack in the middle of the siblings and had to play both older and younger sister whenever the time felt right. there was always copious amounts of love in her family, they were her tribe and she could've gone through all her days with just them. her father (gideon) was a lumberjack and took most of his children under his wing, especially his boys to learn the trade. her mother (aspen) carved wooden items and specialized furniture that her father would bring from across the district. her older brother worked in a paper mill while her sister helped her mother with wood carvings. every year, during their highest season when the demand of seasonal wood peaked, their family would make a trip of going deep into the woods to help their father. although it was work related, it became a family camping trip and that was how most hurdles in their family were dealt with. like most of district seven, the masons were not wealthy but they worked for their humble living and made the most of it. their parents were always very good at seeing the silver lining in everything.
